Sıla Karakaya, fell in love with theater on May 12, 2001 at 20:00; and she still tries to recall that unique moment on stage by designing sets and costumes for theater, film and commercial.
Sıla sparks the passion of collaborative creativity in her students for designing performing arts since 2013, developing academic method on Production Design: Design for Stage and Screen. The designer currently teaches part-time at İstanbul Bilgi University and MEF University: Faculty of Communication , Architecture and Fashion Design Departments.
Istanbul based Turkish designer graduated from New York University, TISCH School of the Arts with MFA degree in Production Design and Scenic Design. Designers background in MFA, Lighting Design from Parsons the New School for Design and BFA, Interior Architecture from Bilkent University helped uniting her skills with passion.
Sıla Karakaya founded her company Design+b612 in 2014. She holds O1 Extraordinary Talented Artist status awarded by the US Government.
